When a granny flat creates a duplex…
This is a beautiful self-contained house extension surrounded by rainforest in Brisbane.
The project originally started as a luxury standalone granny flat, an iconic bespoke design created by Metamorphouse Architects which has since been introduced into our Architectural Series of granny flats. You can download our flyer for the Weekender here or go to our website’s Weekender page for more information.
The granny flat overlooked a lush valley with sweeping views however bushfire restrictions meant a redesign was necessary. The end-result is a duplex with a stylish, modern wing attached to the original 2-storey colonial home.
The interior is beautifully detailed and features a full-size custom designed kitchen in an open-plan dining / living area separated by a feature wall with a 2-way fireplace. A full-length verandah opens out to the rainforest, its tapered shape starts wide at the living area and narrows at the bedroom for privacy.

This great self-contained extension was designed and project-managed by Nathan and built by Troy from our team at Granny and Co Homes.
